26th/27th of August: The world comes together in Bernau for the 100k World Championships
The German Ultramarathon Association (DUV) is organizing the 31st 100k World Championships on the 26th and 27th of August 2022 with active support by the city of Bernau.
Up to 500 athletes from all over the world will compete on a 7.5 km lap at the district Waldfrieden. Starting line and finish line are at the UNESCO world heritage site “Bauhaus”.
“The local organisational committee has chosen the city of Bernau very carefully. Here are the medieval times, the modern age and much green surronding joined.”, says Olaf Ilk, president of the DUV. The charm of the hussiten city with its neighborhood to the metropol Berlin and the excellent transport connections were factors too, says Ilk.
“As city we are glad, that the DUV has decided for Bernau as competition venue”, says Benedikt Kniehl, responsible for sports in the administration. “We hope, that the many international athletes and guests will feel at home here”. Especially in the current difficult times sport events may help to improve international understanding.
